Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
I know a lot of you will say it's not the dog it's the owners but these dogs are fighting dogs and it's in their DNA to fight, how many more people have to be injured or killed before we ban them all?

These dogs are a status symbol for young lads who walk around shopping centres in their vests.

I say BAN all dogs which are bred to fight, anybody caught with one gets 1 year in prison, anyone found breeding them should get 2 years.

Any owners who's dogs attack a person should be treated as though they themselves have walked the streets armed with a knife or gun.

Sorry Gank for this non West Ham related post.

The easier way is to ban all dogs from social housing. Most private landlords to not allow pets so social landlords should do the same.

Problem solved over night.

Get rid of half the bus stops whilst you are at it. Makes fat people walk a little further and eases the stop start traffic creation by buses.

There is a list of fighting dogs on Wikipedia, google it yourself 😄

Most of them can be found in a local town centre on a Saturday afternoon with its owner Shane, usual type wearing wife beater vest, covered in tattoos, baseball cap and sovereign ring.

Goes without saying. In a modern society people should not have to run the risk of being killed by animals kept by owners who can't find enough attention from humankind. If they do need an slavering emotional crutch then there are plenty of breeds that don't have the propensity to bite people's faces off available.
Dogs who shit in public places without their owners clearing it up should be put down as well and their owners imprisoned.

Plenty on there which I reckon are hugely under-represented in dog-attack statistics.

Aren't Jack Russells generally #1 for attacks on humans?

I'd fancy my chances of fighting off a jack Russell but wouldn't be so confident against a staffie.

Re: Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
no but every owner of one should be forced to attend classes on handling the dogs

I can only go on what a friend in a dog shelter says. He says there's nothing innately wrong with breeds like pit bulls. They're perfectly sweet dogs. The problem is that they're bought by idiots who teach them to be aggressive and kick them around.

they should be forcibly neautered

the owners, not the dogs

Re: Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
Staffies and JRs are about the same size.

Herts Hammer posted up an absolutely brilliant post once about Staffies and their history.

To cut a long story short they're bred SPECIFICALLY to not attack humans.

anyone pulled out the old "no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners" bollox yet, to somehow justify another kid/person being mauled by a cunt of a dog?

In 16 years of visiting various properties with dogs, I have been bitten twice by the same breed - Jack Russell

For the first one, I recreated a Julian Dicks penalty

Re: Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
Only losers have dogs like these.

It's like they're saying " I know I am lowlife scum and my life doesn't amount to anything but at least you wouldn't mess with my dog"

The owners have low self esteem.

Re: Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
It should be made law that all dogs should be insured for 3rd party damage (obviously the premiums would be much higher for what are regarded as more aggressive breeds)

All dangerous breeds should be muzzled in public places

It should be illegal for dangerous breeds to be kept at an address where children are present

Failure to comply with any of the above conditions should attract a minimum of 2 years prison sentence

That should sort it!
